Ladle Preheating System A Ladle Preheating System is widely used in steel plants, foundries, and metallurgical industries to heat ladles before pouring molten metal. Its main purpose is to ensure uniform and efficient heating of the ladle so that molten metal can be transferred safely and without heat loss. 🔸 Purpose Prevents thermal shock – avoids cracking or damage when hot metal is poured into a cold ladle. Reduces heat loss – helps maintain molten metal temperature. Increases refractory life – protects ladle lining from sudden heating. Saves energy – minimizes reheating requirements. 🔸 Types of Ladle Preheating Systems Oil-fired Ladle Preheaters Operated with furnace oil or diesel burners. Economical but less eco-friendly. Gas-fired Ladle Preheaters Uses LPG or natural gas burners. Clean, efficient, and most commonly used. Electric Ladle Preheaters Works with resistance heating elements or induction type systems. Offers precise temperature control, though initial cost is higher. 🔸 Design & Features High-efficiency burner system (manual or automatic). Stationary or rotary type design for uniform heating. Temperature control system (up to 1000–1200°C). Exhaust system for safe flue gas removal. PLC/SCADA automation in advanced plants.
