Large Volume Low Speed Centrifuge (LVLSC) A Large Volume Low Speed Centrifuge is a laboratory device used to separate suspended particles from liquids based on differences in size, shape, and density by applying centrifugal force at low rotational speeds. It is specifically designed to process large volumes of samples (from several hundred milliliters up to a few liters) without causing damage to sensitive biological materials. Unlike high-speed centrifuges, LVLSCs operate at lower RPM (usually up to 5,000 rpm), which makes them ideal for applications requiring gentle but effective separation. Principle of Operation When the centrifuge rotates, the sample experiences centrifugal force that pushes heavier and denser particles outward toward the bottom of the container, forming a pellet, while lighter components remain in the supernatant.
