Product Details
A doctor blade is a mechanical device used to remove excess ink from a printing cylinder. While it removes some ink, it allows some to stay on the cylinder, thus metering the amount of ink that leaves the cylinder. As with most metallic devices, they are subject to wear and corrosion.The function of a doctor blade is to remove excess ink from the surface of the anilox roll so that the anilox surface can deliver the right amount of ink to the printing plate. Before blades, this job was performed by rubber rolls, known as nip rolls or fountain rolls.
