Slat conveyors consist of endless chains, driven by electric motors operating through reduction gears and sprockets, with attached spaced slats to carry objects that would damage a belt because of sharp edges or heavy weights.Slat conveyors use a slat and chain system to move components along an assembly line. They are often used where production operations are performed with the parts located on the conveyor. Steel panels are attached to the chain with special chain attachments, and the chain is driven by an electric motor and gearbox.Industrial conveyors are horizontal, inclined, declined, or vertical machinery that transport bulk materials or discrete units from one place to another at a controlled rate. There are two main conveyor technologies: bulk material and unit handling. There are also many different conveyor types.Superficially, slat and apron conveyors look to function much like belt conveyors. Instead of having a pliable rubber belt, however, slat and apron conveyors have slats, plates, or trays. Slat conveyors are often used in assembly lines for packed products or to move heavy or abrasive materials such as metal or brick.
