An RO plant, or reverse osmosis plant, is a facility that uses the reverse osmosis process to purify water. Reverse osmosis is a water treatment process that removes dissolved particles from water by applying pressure to force it through a semi-permeable membrane.RO plants typically consist of several stages, including pre-treatment, high-pressure pumping, membrane separation, and post-treatment. In the pre-treatment stage, raw water is screened to remove large particles and then undergoes processes such as coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation to remove suspended solids and other impurities.Next, the water is pumped at high pressure through a semi-permeable membrane that allows water molecules to pass through but blocks dissolved particles. This process is called membrane separation and is the core of the RO process. The purified water is then collected, while the rejected contaminants are discharged.Finally, the purified water undergoes post-treatment to adjust its pH and mineral content to meet specific requirements.RO plants are used in a variety of applications, including municipal water treatment, industrial process water, and desalination of seawater or brackish water. They are highly efficient at removing dissolved particles, require relatively low energy consumption, and produce high-quality water.
