Mixed bed resins or mixed bed ion exchange resins are mainly used in the water purification industry for polishing process water to achieve demineralized water quality (such as after a reverse osmosis system). Mixed bed as the name states consists of strong acid cation exchange and strong base anion exchange resin.While RO is very pure, it is not truly demineralised, and some smaller mineral ions may remain. Demin water systems purify water on a more molecular level, producing a higher level of water purity by removing much smaller minerals and charged ions.For treated boiler water, a mixed bed deionizer is an essential piece of water treatment equipment for any industry. Where water quality of less than 1 micro-ohm conductivity is required, a mix bed deionizer or mixed bed polisher is often installed.
