Inkjets are non-contact coders that work by spraying ink from a printhead onto the package to form a legible code. A number of different inks are available depending upon the package requirements. Common inks are solvent (usually methyl ethyl ketone or MEK), alcohol or water based.In the inkjet printing mechanism, the print head has several tiny nozzles, also called jets. As the paper moves past the print head, the nozzles spray the ink onto it, forming the characters and images.
