Microscopically, it has a hexagonal layered structure, composed of alternating MX layers and A atom layers. This type of ceramic contains more than 60 ternary carbides or nitrides. M represents the front transition metal element of the transition group; A represents the main group element; X represents a carbon or nitrogen element. Transition metal carbides and nitrides, known as Mxenes; two-dimensional layered transition metal carbide nanosheets (MXenes) are a new type of two-dimensional material discovered in recent years.MXenes have high specific surface area, good conductivity, and hydrophilicity. Theoretical predictions suggest that these materials have high elastic modulus and high charge carrier mobility, making them ideal for applications in conductive materials and functionally enhanced composite materials. Previous studies have found that various cations can spontaneously insert into the interlayer of MXenes materials, making them promising for energy storage applications.MXenes are layered solids connected by strong metallic, ionic, and covalent bonds, such as Ti2AlC, Ti3AlC2, and Ta4AlC3, by selectively etching an element with a MAX phase of metallic conductivity. Mxenes bind -OH and oxygen on the surface of transition metal carbides to terminate metal conductivity. It is conductive in nature. Our company independently researches and develops Ti2AlC (211 structure) and Ti3AlC2 (312 structure), among which Ti3AlC2 (312 structure) has a purity >99% and is easy to etch.The difference between different MAX phasesThe main difference between 211, 312, and 413 phases is the number of M atoms between every two layers of A atoms in the crystal. MX are combined with strong covalent bonds, and MX sheets are bonded with A atom faces with weak covalent bonds, which makes it easier for A atoms to escape from the shackles of MX sheets. This unique chemical bond property endows the MAX phase with excellent performance. With the increase of MX sheet thickness, the properties are close to the corresponding M-X binary carbides, and the properties of MAX phase can be improved by adjusting the MX sheet thickness.Important Note for Ti3AlC2 powder Products: The most important thing in choosing MAX products is the intensity of the 002 peak. If the intensity of the 002 peak is low, MXene cannot be prepared. In the market, many MAX manufacturers are unable to achieve a certain intensity of the 002 peak. Some manufacturers cannot control TiC within a certain range, and TiC cannot be etched in HF, which will cause a large amount of TiC to always exist in your experimental samples.
