A nitrogen tyre inflator is made up of an air compressor and an adsorption filter that allows nitrogen and oxygen in the air to pass through. Nitrogen and oxygen separate out due to their different diffusion rates when the air passes through the adsorption filter.ATS ELGI's Nitrogen tyre inflator is the most widely used tyre inflator across India. It produces up to 97% pure Nitrogen at a rate of 3500 litres per hour. Equipped to inflate two tyres at a time with a pressure range of 0 to 120 bar, this product is designed to suit the user's needs and improve tyre life.In its pure form, nitrogen has been used primarily because it doesn't support moisture or combustion. Nitrogen is an inert (non-flammable) gas – basically, nothing more than dry air with oxygen removed. In fact, ambient air contains about 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% miscellaneous gas.The main benefit of nitrogen in tyres for the regular Joe Blow is its ability to maintain pressure. The more oxygen present in a mix, the faster it oxidises and leaks through the rubber, leading to under-inflated tyres, Nitrogen is important to the chemical industry. It is used to make fertilisers, nitric acid, nylon, dyes and explosives. To make these products, nitrogen must first be reacted with hydrogen to produce ammonia. This is done by the Haber process.Nitrogen molecules are larger and slower moving than those of compressed air.
