Place pasta in a hotel pan and cover with 1 inch of water. Steam for 8-12 minutes (depending on the type of pasta you are cooking. Shorter time for elbows, longer forspaghetti). Drain, and your pasta is ready to go!Wheat noodles are produced mainly from flour, water and salt, and the basic steps of noodles production include dough mixing, sheeting, combining of sheets, resting, rolling and cutting, followed by different processing treatments (drying, boiling, steaming, frying and freezing) or a combination of these.The main raw materials are wheat flour or Maida and starch. white wheat flour is also preferred. Several commercial starch noodles made from legume, tuber, geshu (kudzu and sweet potato) and fernery starch are used. In Asian noodles, the addition of sodium chloride at 2-3% level could improve noodle texture.Spread noodles out in a large colander. Place colander in a pot containing several inches of boiling water. Cover pot and steam 20 minutes. Dry hard pasta cannot be steamed. Steaming dry pasta leaves you with a lumpy, sticky, glued-together mess. You can, however, steam fresh pasta or reheat cooked pasta by steaming.
