Oil-free and is used to describe compressors that do not use any lubrication in the compression chamber. While it describes a type of compressor, Class 0 and “technically oil-free” express how clean the air is after compression. Though they are close in meaning, there are a few important differences between the two.Oil free compressors use various technologies that bypass the need for oil. In oil lubricated compressors, oil is used in the compression chamber to cool and seal the air. In an oil-free compressor, no matter what type of technology is being used, no oil will ever be used in the compression chamber.
