A refrigerant air dryer is a specific type of compressed air dryer that is used to remove moisture from compressed air, which always contains water.Refrigerated air dryers operate with a similar principle to domestic refrigerators or home air conditioning systems. The compressed air is cooled in an air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger to about 35°F, a temperature where the moisture condenses and is drained off.As such, refrigerant dehumidifiers work best in warmer temperatures, whereas desiccant dryers operate at their highest efficiency in cooler ambient environments.The basic function of the air dryer is to remove moisture from the air by cooling it with a refrigerant. Thus, the water vapor is condensed, and the air can be compressed. The result is dry compressed air, which can be used in compressed air equipment without causing any damage.
