Product Details
The "Oil Pad" in the Epson FX-1170 dot matrix printer serves a critical function in ensuring smooth operation and longevity of the print head assembly. It helps to lubricate and clean the print head as it moves across the paper during printing, reducing friction and preventing wear on both the print head and the paper.### Steps to Handle the Oil Pad in the Epson FX-1170:1. **Identify the Oil Pad**: Locate the oil pad assembly within the printer. It is usually positioned where the print head assembly moves back and forth across the paper.2. **Maintenance**: - **Cleaning**: Periodically clean the oil pad to remove any accumulated ink and debris. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild solvent recommended by the printer manufacturer. - **Replacement**: Depending on usage and printer maintenance recommendations, the oil pad may need replacement. Check the printer manual or manufacturer's guidelines for the recommended replacement interval. - **Oil Application**: Some printers require the oil pad to be lubricated with a specific type of oil to ensure smooth operation. Follow the printer manufacturer's instructions for applying oil to the pad.3. **Ordering a Replacement Oil Pad**: If the oil pad needs replacement, contact Epson directly or visit authorized Epson dealers or service centers to order a replacement oil pad specific to the FX-1170 printer model.4. **Installation**: - Power off the printer and disconnect it from any power source. - Access the oil pad assembly by removing covers or panels as necessary. - Replace the old oil pad with the new one, ensuring proper alignment and installation. - Secure any fasteners or clips that hold the oil pad in place.5. **Testing**: After installation or maintenance, perform a test print to ensure that the printer operates smoothly and that the oil pad effectively lubricates the print head.6. **Regular Maintenance**: Incorporate regular checks and maintenance of the oil pad into your printer maintenance routine to optimize print quality and prolong the life of the print head assembly.By following these steps and maintaining the oil pad in your Epson FX-1170 dot matrix printer, you can ensure smooth printing operations and extend the life of critical printer components. If you need specific details or further assistance, refer to the printer's manual or contact Epson support for guidance tailored to your printer model.
