Also known by name of 'Sweet bay', 'bay laurel', 'Noble laurel' & 'True laurel', its leaves have aromatic odor & are bitter and spicy. Mixing well with oils like cedarwood & coriander, it finds extensive use as a constituent in men's soaps, colognes, cosmetics & hair tonics. Oil Properties Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Uses It is used in men’s soaps, cosmetics, colognes, and hair tonics. It has been known to control dandruff, promote hair growth, treat muscular aches, neuralgia, rheumatism and poor circulation. Therapeutic Properties Antiseptic, antibiotic, analgesic, anti-neuralgic, antispasmodic, aperitif, astringent, emmenagogue, febrifuge, insecticide, cholagogue, stomachic, sudorific and tonic. Blends Well With Cedarwood, eucalyptus, coriander, geranium, juniper, ginger, lavender, orange, lemon, rose, rosemary. Summary This oil is obtained by the process of steam distillation of leaves. Bay essential oil has a strong, spicy, and pungent aroma. Its most popular use is in a liniment or massage oil to stimulant lymph and blood circulation. Precautions Bay oil has a high eugenol content and may irritate the skin and mucus membranes, so it should be use with caution on the skin. Pregnant women should avoid it.
