An Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is a facility designed to treat industrial wastewater (effluent) generated from manufacturing processes, so that pollutants are removed and the treated water meets the standards prescribed by the Pollution Control Boards (CPCB/SPCB) before discharge or reuse. Unlike sewage, industrial effluent contains toxic chemicals, heavy metals, high TDS, oils, grease, organic and inorganic contaminants depending on the type of industry. Therefore, specialized treatment is required.
