Depending on the pulse and its intended use, other steps like de-hulling (decorticating), puffing, roasting, and grinding may be included as well.Pulses are mainly consumed in the form of dehusked split dal. The newly developed low cost pulse dehusking machine is hand as well as power operated (0.5 HP). The process consists of soaking the raw material in water and drying in sun. The dried material is fed into the machine to get the dehusked dal.
