PVC green suction hoses (often called "Water Suction & Discharge Hoses") are the standard for moving large volumes of water, slurry, and mild chemicals. They are easily identified by their distinct green transparent body and rigid internal spiral.
1. Construction: The Spiral HelixUnlike standard hoses that rely on internal braiding for pressure, a suction hose is built to resist collapse.

Flexible PVC Wall: The body is made of a flexible, weather-resistant PVC. The transparency (or translucency) allows operators to see the flow and check for blockages or air pockets.

Rigid PVC Helix: A hard, white plastic spiral is embedded into the hose wall. This acts as an "exoskeleton," allowing the hose to maintain its shape under full vacuum (suction) without flattening like a straw.

Avoid "Drag" Damage: While tough, dragging the hose over jagged rocks or concrete can wear down the rigid helix, leading to a "soft spot" where the hose will eventually collapse under vacuum.

Sunlight (UV) Protection: Most green suction hoses are UV-stabilized, but long-term storage in direct sun will eventually make the PVC brittle. Store in a shaded area when not in use.

Check for Cracks: If you see the hose "whitening" at the bends, it is a sign of stress. If air bubbles are visible through the wall during operation, there is likely a pinhole or a poor seal at the fitting.
