The Mitsubishi Q55B is a modular extension base unit (base rack) for the MELSEC‑Q series programmable logic controller (PLC) system, designed to provide a flexible physical foundation on which various PLC modules—such as I/O modules, communication interfaces, and specialty function modules—can be mounted in a single, expandable configuration. It features five available I/O slots, allowing engineers to scale the system's hardware capacity by adding or rearranging modules to suit application requirements without redesigning the entire control panel. Unlike some base units that require a separate power supply module, the Q55B does not require its own power supply for the backplane itself, drawing necessary 5 V DC bus power directly from the system, which helps simplify wiring and reduce component count.
