Raychem SVL Link Boxes (part of the TE Connectivity HVLB series) are specialized enclosures used in high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable systems to manage induced voltages and circulating currents in cable sheaths.Core Functionality Earthing & Bonding: They provide a central point for earthing and bonding cable sheaths to eliminate or reduce circulating currents that can cause overheating and reduce transmission capacity. SVL (Sheath Voltage Limiter): These boxes often include zinc oxide SVLs designed to limit overvoltage on the cable sheath during transient events like lightning or switching surges. Testing: They allow for easy access to shield breaks for periodic testing and inspections without dismantling cable joints. Single Phase Link Box Application: Typically used for single-point bonding where the cable sheath is grounded at only one end. Design: Compact, one-entry or two-entry enclosures. Three Phase Link Box Application: Primarily used for cross-bonding and sectionalisation in three-phase transmission systems. Function: Facilitates the 120-degree phase shift bonding that reduces total induced voltage toward zero.
