A reverse osmosis plant is a manufacturing plant where the process of reverse osmosis takes place. Reverse Osmosis is a technology that is used to remove a large majority of contaminants from water by pushing the water under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane.Osmosis is the movement of solvent molecules from a solution of low concentration to a solution of high concentration, through a semipermeable membrane. There are two types of Osmosis namely Endosmosis and Exosmosis. Osmotic solutions can be isotonic, hypotonic, or hypertonic.When pressure is added, to the higher level side, that is greater than the current osmotic pressure the flow will be reversed. This reversal allows the contaminant solution to be further concentrated and produces purified water. The adding of pressure to enact the reversal is called Reverse Osmosis or RO.
