Al-Cu-Li alloy 2050 has been developed by Alcan Aerospace as an interesting low density high corrosion resistant alternative to incumbent 2024 alloy (and even to its high damage tolerant versions like 2024A and 2027) for thin plates and to reference 7050 alloy in medium-to-thick gauges.
