An industrial heat exchanger is heat transfer equipment that utilizes a thermal energy exchange process between two or more medium available at different temperatureA heat exchanger is a device that facilitates the process of heat exchange between two fluids that are at different temperatures.Gaskets between plates guide the flow of product and heating/cooling fluids through alternating channels. As hot fluids pass over the plates, heat transfers from the hot to the cold side, decreasing the temperature of the hot side and raising the temperature of the cold side.A Shell and Tube Exchanger consists of a number of tubes mounted inside a cylindrical shell. Figure 8 illustrates a typical unit that may be found in a petrochemical plant. Two fluids can exchange heat, one fluid flows over the outside of the tubes while the second fluid flows through the tubes.
