A Sandblast Nozzle is a precision-engineered tool designed to accelerate a mixture of compressed air and abrasive media (like sand, steel grit, or glass beads) to high velocities. It is the final component of a sandblasting system and determines the velocity, pattern, and efficiency of the cleaning or etching process.
🔬 Internal Geometry: Straight vs. VenturiThe shape of the internal bore dictates how the abrasive hits the surface:1

Straight Bore: Used for small-scale jobs like cabinet blasting or spot cleaning. It creates a tight, concentrated blast pattern but loses velocity quickly.2

Venturi Bore: Features a tapered entry that constricts the air and then expands it.3 This creates a "vacuum effect" that accelerates the abrasive particles to much higher speeds (up to $720$ km/h), creating a larger, more uniform blast pattern.

Double Venturi: Features two venturis in a row with atmospheric air holes, which increases the size of the "hot spot" (the most effective part of the blast pattern) by up to 4$35%$.5
Since abrasive media "sandblasts" the nozzle from the inside, the material choice determines the nozzle's lifespan:
