Product Details

This Handmade Wooden Kathputli refers to the Puppet Theatre of Rajasthan. Handmade Kathputli Puppet show is amongst the finest and most ancient form of folk entertainment in Rajasthan. In the local dialect, Kath means "Wood" and Putli means "Doll". The art of puppeteering involves attaching hand decorated wooden husband and wife dolls to a string. The Wooden Kathputli Pair is draped in bright colorful Rajasthani Bandhej work dresses with mirrors and stone beadings, etc. The dolls represent the beautiful rajasthani culture of snake charmers who used to roam street to street to earn money. The Rajasthani Handmade Kathputli Puppets are often bedazzled with large spooky eyes and exaggerated face expressions. Artificial Mustache, nose ring, bangle, jewelry and hair are added to give the dolls an interesting look. Hands are stuffed with cotton to easy the finger movement. To make the show more interesting, lok-geets are sung live by the puppeteer himself and sometimes accompanied by group musicians. You can keep these beautiful Rajasthani traditional Wooden Kathputli Pair as an addition to your home decor.
