A simple turn of the handle performs multiple functions like filtration, backwash, rinse, brine suction and brine.Sand filters are widely used in water purification and remove suspended matter by a completely different mechanism. Instead of the water passing through small orifices through which particles cannot pass, it runs through a bed of filter medium, typically 0.75 mm sand 750 mm deep.Slow sand filtration is a simple and reliable process. They are relatively inexpensive to build, but do require highly skilled operators. The process percolates untreated water slowly through a bed of porous sand, with the influent water introduced over the surface of the filter, and then drained from the bottom.
