What it is: SikaShield® Primer S-30 IN is a solvent-based bituminous primer designed to improve adhesion of bituminous waterproofing membranes. It's part of the SikaShield® roofing and waterproofing system (formerly known under the SikaBit® name). Key Properties: Ready-to-use, single-component, quick-drying primer. Low viscosity for good penetration into porous surfaces. Based on modified bituminous liquid. Designed especially for tropical conditions (common in places like India). Main Uses: It's used as a primer ahead of applying torch-on or self-adhesive bituminous waterproofing membranes such as APP (Atactic Polypropylene) and SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) modified sheets. The primer activates and conditions surfaces like concrete and old bituminous layers so that the membrane can bond strongly. Where It Bonds Best: ✔ Concrete and screed mortar ✔ Porous stones and lime-concrete ✔ Old bituminous substrates (e.g., existing waterproofing) Application Highlights: Apply on clean, dry surfaces by brush, roller, or spray. Allow primer to become hard dry before installing membranes (touch dry in a few hours, full dry up to ~14 h depending on conditions). Typical coverage is around 0.25–0.40 L/m² per coat. Important Notes: Do not dilute unless advised by Sika technical support – dilution can impair performance. Do not apply on wet surfaces or immediately after rain. Store sealed and upright at moderate temperatures (+20 °C to +35 °C). Typical Packaging & Appearance: Comes in 20 L metal drums. Black liquid.
