Single-stage compressors are also known as piston compressors. The process that takes place within a single-stage compressor goes as follows: Air is sucked into a cylinder. The trapped air is compressed in a single stroke with a piston at roughly 120 psi. The compressed air is moved onward to a storage tank.Reciprocating (Piston) Compressors can be widely found in two primary configurations; Single Stage and Two Stage. Single stage air compressors work by drawing air in and subsequently compressing the air to its final pressure in single piston stroke. Single stage air compressors can attain pressures of up to 150 PSI.Single-acting reciprocating pump consists of a piston of which only one side engages the fluid being displaced. The simplest example would be a syringe. Double-acting reciprocating pump engage with both sides of the piston, each stroke of the piston carries out both suction and expulsion at the same time.
