Core Issues in Rural Area: Education is affected: Education in rural India is one of the most important issues being dealt with, by the government today. Today, over 35% of India's population is illiterate. Children spend a majority of their day at school. By the time they return home, in the evening, they are unable to study at home because of the absence of a light source. This makes it very difficult for these children to have proper education. Students are unable to utilize the Computer labs in schools located in rural areas due to frequent power failure. This impacts the productivity and value addition during school hours. Irrigation is affected: The base of the Indian economy is agriculture. Agriculture provides employment to over 58% of the country's workforce and provides livelihood to over 64% of our population. A good crop yield is the result of good irrigation. However, with the unreliable power supply, farmers are unable to pump water to their fields. Because of this, the harvest suffers, pushing rural India further into the dark.
