The most-common applications for solar trackers are positioning photovoltaic (PV) panels (solar panels) so that they remain perpendicular to the Sun's rays and positioning space telescopes so that they can determine the Sun's direction.Trackers generate more electricity than their stationary counterparts due to increased direct exposure to solar rays. This increase can be as much as 30 to 40% depending on the geographic location of the tracking system.Solar Trackers are used to keep solar collectors/solar panels oriented directly towards the sun as it moves through the sky every day. Using Solar Trackers increases the amount of solar energy which is received by the solar energy collector and improves the energy output of the heat/electricity which is generated.There are two main types of solar trackers available on the market: single- and dual-axis. Single-axis solar trackers track the sun east to west, rotating on a single point, moving either in unison, by panel row or by section. Dual-axis trackers rotate on both the X and Y axes, making panels track the sun directly.
