A spun filter cartridge is a depth filter made from thermally bonded polypropylene fibers, forming a gradient density structure (less dense outside, denser inside) to capture sediment like dirt, rust, and sand, protecting RO membranes and purifying water for homes, industries, and food/beverage use, known for its high dirt-holding capacity and chemical resistance. Key Features & How It Works: Material: Primarily 100% polypropylene (PP) fibers, often food-grade. Construction: Fibers are spun and thermally bonded into a cylindrical cartridge, creating a "sponge-like" matrix with layers of varying density. Filtration Process: Water flows from outside to inside; larger particles are caught in the less dense outer layers, while progressively smaller particles are trapped deeper in the denser inner layers. Gradient Density: This structure allows for high contaminant retention and longer filter life before clogging. Micron Ratings: Available in various ratings (e.g., 1, 5, 10 microns) to target specific particle sizes. Benefits: Effective Sediment Removal: Captures sand, silt, rust, and dirt.
