A water chiller, or chilled water system, is a type of refrigeration system which uses water as a secondary refrigerant. They are used for larger, more complex, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) applications. Typical applications of water chillers are enumerated below., SST is the saturation suction temperature at which refrigerant will absorb heat from water, which is to be cooled in evaporator. Temperature approach is the temperature difference between chilled water outlet temperature from the evaporator and SST, A water chiller is a device used to lower the temperature of water. Most chillers use refrigerant in a closed loop system to facilitate heat exchange from water where the refrigerant is then pumped to a location where the waste heat is transferred to the atmosphere.
