A cyclone separator, often simply referred to as a cyclone, is a device used to separate particulate matter from a gas or liquid stream without the use of filters. It employs the principles of centrifugal force to achieve separation.Here's how a cyclone separator typically works:1. **Inlet**: The gas or liquid stream containing particulate matter enters the cyclone through an inlet nozzle. The inlet is usually tangential to the cylindrical body of the cyclone, causing the incoming stream to swirl rapidly.2. **Centrifugal Force**: As the swirling stream enters the cyclone, centrifugal force causes the heavier particles in the stream to move towards the outer wall of the cyclone. This motion creates a downward spiral along the inner surface of the cyclone.3. **Separation**: Due to the centrifugal force, the heavier particles lose momentum and are forced against the outer wall of the cyclone. They then slide down the walls and collect at the bottom of the cyclone, forming a conical pile of separated material known as the "cone" or "spigot".4. **Outlet**: The cleaned gas or liquid, with reduced particulate content, exits the cyclone through an outlet located at the top of the cyclone's cylindrical body.
