The PB10 IKO is a spherical plain bearing. Spherical plain bearings are two-piece plain bearings. They have no rolling elements, but consist of an inner and outer ring. The inner ring has a convex outer surface. The outer ring has a concave inner surface. This construction gives spherical plain bearings their high load carrying capacity and capacity to accommodate misalignment. The PB10 IKO has a steel-on-steel sliding contact. Both the outer and inner rings of this bearing are made of steel. Bearings with steel-on-steel sliding contacts are wear-resistant and have a high load carrying capacity. This bearing type requires regular maintenance. Proper lubrication is required to reduce friction and prevent fouling and corrosion.
