NC Quantum Apex (Non‑Compliant) PTCA Balloon Catheter, by Boston Scientific.Intended use: It is a post-dilatation / balloon dilatation catheter used in percutaneous coronary angioplasty to expand stents or dilate stenotic segments in coronary arteries or bypass grafts. *A non‑compliant balloon is designed to exhibit minimal change in diameter ("growth") beyond its nominal size when pressure is increased. In contrast, semi‑compliant balloons widen more with pressure.*For post‑stent expansion, a non‑compliant balloon helps avoid over‑expansion beyond the stent's intended dimensions, reducing risk of vessel injury (e.g. dissection).*The NC Quantum Apex is specified to have ~ 4 % balloon growth under its pressure range.Possible Adverse Events Some potential adverse events associated with the use of a PTCA dilatation catheter (not unique to NC Quantum Apex, but applicable) include: Vessel dissection, perforation, rupture Acute closure or abrupt vessel occlusion Myocardial infarction, ischemia Arrhythmias Embolism, thrombosis Bleeding, hematoma at access site Restenosis (re-narrowing) Allergic reactions (e.g. to contrast medium) Death (in worst complications) Other complications like no-reflow, branch occlusion, etc
