An isolation transformer is a transformer used to transfer electrical power from a source of alternating current (AC) power to some equipment or device ...An isolation transformer is a transformer with physically separate primary and secondary windings, that prevent it from transferring unwanted noise from the input circuit to the output windings.Isolation transformers can be specified by type, and further classified by winding arrangement, construction, or alternating current (AC) power type.An isolation transformer reduces electrical noise in electrical devices. The Faraday shield in the transformer prevents electric fields from interfering with power flow. Thus, unwanted currents cannot interrupt power and signal circuits in equipment.A transformer is used in a power system to increase and decrease the voltage, for the distribution of the electrical current. While an isolation transformer is not used to increase or decrease the voltage they are used to breaking a circuit into a primary and a secondary, so direct current noise can't get through.
