A water ionizer (also known as an alkaline ionizer) is a home appliance which claims to raise the pH of drinking water by using electrolysis to separate the incoming water stream into acidic and alkaline components. The alkaline stream of the treated water is called alkaline water.Water ionizers work by by using electromagnetism to change ordinary tap water into ionized alkaline water with acid-fighting alkalinity and antioxidant potential. Plain water is a mix of alkaline minerals and carbonate – dissolved CO2. A water ionizer separates the carbonate from tap water from the alkaline minerals.
