Cold-Shrink Kits: Preferred for field repairs, especially in hazardous or "gassy" mining environments, as they require no open flame or heat source. They use pre-stretched rubber sleeves that contract when a supporting core is removed, providing a "living seal" that expands and contracts with the cable. Resin Injection/Cast Joints: Used for permanent, high-durability repairs where the joint must be as slim as the original cable to fit onto a cable reeling drum without snagging. Heat-Shrink Kits: A more economical option typically used in workshops or surface mines where a heat source (like a torch) can be safely used. Once cooled, these become rigid, offering high impact resistance but less flexibility than cold-shrink options.
