Key Features of Trailing Cable Kits High Flexibility: Uses specialized EPDM or cold-shrink rubber that moves with the cable without cracking. Mechanical Strength: Outer jackets are extremely tough to resist "run-over" damage from vehicles or dragging across rocks. Moisture Sealing: Provides a hermetic seal (IP68) to prevent water ingress in damp mining environments. Flame Retardant: Often meets MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) or equivalent standards for underground safety. 2. Common Kit Types Cold-Shrink (Preferred): Easiest to install in the field. No torches are required, which is critical in "gassy" or explosive mining environments. Heat-Shrink: More economical but requires a heat source. Used primarily for repairs in surface mines or workshops. Resin Injection (Joints): Used for permanent, high-durability repairs where the joint must be as slim as the original cable to fit on a cable reel. 3.
