Out of the four stainless steel classes, duplex alloys exhibit a duality in their microstructure. And so the microstructure of an ASTM A790 Duplex Stainless Steel Welded Pipe will contain both austenite and ferrite in an equal or a proportionate ratio. One of the benefits of having a mixed microstructure is that the Duplex 2205 Seamless Pipe and Tube will not only retain both structures but also exhibit some of their properties. In the case of this particular alloy, the yield strength of a duplex stainless steel 2205 pipe would be almost two times higher as compared to some very traditional stainless steel alloys including alloy 304 and alloy 316.
