PP: Pressure control is on the P-port (the pressure line). CW: Adjustment range. Typically indicates a range of roughly 8 to 315 bar (116 to 4500 psi). B: Adjustment mechanism. This usually refers to a knob/handwheel (A is usually a screw with a locknut). 40: The design series number (indicating internal construction/seal updates). Key Features & Function This valve is "normally open." It allows flow to pass through until the pressure at the outlet reaches the setting you've dialed in. Reducing Function: It limits the pressure in the secondary circuit (P-line downstream). Relieving Function: If a spike occurs in the downstream circuit (due to an external force on an actuator, for example), the valve will shift to vent that excess pressure to the tank (T-line). Space Saving: Because it is a sandwich valve, it mounts directly under a directional control valve, eliminating the need for extra plumbing. Maintenance Tips Check the Seals: If you see oil weeping between the valve layers, the O-rings at the bottom interface (usually Viton or Buna-N) likely need replacement. Contamination: These valves have small internal orifices. If your system has "trash" in the oil, the spool can stick, causing the pressure to either stay at full system pressure or drop to nothing.
