A computer wheel balancer spins the wheel and determines the locations and amounts of vibration. The computer splits the tire into two halves and measures both lateral and radial forces on each side of the tire's center. Weights are added to each side of the wheel to correct the imbalance.Wheel balancing ensures that weight is distributed equally around the wheel and that the tyre rotates evenly. This involves adding small balancing weights to the rim which counter weight inconsistencies. If you imagine a set of balancing scales, when you add a heavy weight to one side the scales will tip.Balancing machines have two pedestals that sit on top of a supporting platform. The part that needs to be tested is bolted on a platform and rotated with a belt or end driver. While the part is rotating, the balancing machine aims to monitor vibration by detecting vibrations through the machine's sensors.
