The 3M Scotch 23 Electrical Tape (50mm x 9.15m) is a professional-grade, highly conformable, self-fusing Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) based high-voltage insulating tape. Key Features and Specifications Self-Fusing: The primary feature of this tape is its ability to amalgamate (fuse) onto itself when stretched and wrapped, creating a solid, void-free, and permanent moisture-resistant seal. It is non-vulcanizing and shelf-stable. High Voltage Insulation: It is designed for use as primary electrical insulation for splicing and terminating cables from 600 volts up to 69 kilovolts (kV) on all solid dielectric cables. Material and Conformability: The tape is based on Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) and is highly conformable, allowing it to wrap snugly over irregular shapes and complex cable profiles. It can be stretched up to 100% without affecting its physical or electrical properties. Temperature Ratings: It is rated for continuous operating temperatures up to 90°C (194°F) and an emergency overload rating up to 130°C (266°F). Durability: The tape is highly resistant to moisture, UV radiation, and general weathering, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. It is also resistant to splitting, cracking, slipping, and flagging. Application: It must be applied under tension in successive half-lapped layers after removing the special polyester "snakeskin" liner. It is not hand-tearable and must be cut with a tool. Compliance: The tape meets ASTM D4388 Type III standards and is RoHS compliant. Applications Primary electrical insulation for cable jointing and terminating (600V to 69kV). Building stress cones on cables up to 35 kV. Jacketing on high-voltage splices and terminations. Moisture sealing electrical connections. Insulating bus bars.
