Kilovolt-amperes (kVA) measures the apparent power of the diesel generator. The power factor (PF) is the ratio between real power and apparent power. For example, if a building consumes 1900 kW and 2000 kVA, the power factor is ~90%Essentially, the higher the kVA rating, the more power the generator produces. A kVA is 1,000 volt-amps. It's what you get when you multiply the voltage (the force that moves electrons around a circuit) by the amps (electrical current).
