Plastic welding is the process of creating a molecular bond between two compatible thermoplastics. Welding offers superior strength, and reduces cycle times. There are three main steps to any weld: pressing, heating, and cooling. Plastic welding processes are primarily differentiated by their heating methods.Included in most plastic welding processes are devices that hold the plastics components together so that a complete bond can be formed as the heat is added to the weld joint. Plastics welding is used for the joining of plastics pieces but also to repair cracks.Nowadays, there are many plastic welding techniques including laser welding, ultrasonic welding, and frequency welding, in addition to the very commonly used hot air welding. There are also welding techniques dedicated to specific types of thermoplastics such as PVC welding or TPO weldinAesthetically pleasing weld seams – visually OK on “class A” surfaces.
