These skimmers generally include drum skimmers, brush skimmers, weir skimmers, and some belt skimmers.There are two main types of oil skimmer: oleophilic and non-oleophilic. Oleophilic skimmers include disc, belt, tube, brush, mop, brush, grooved disc, smooth drum, and grooved drum. Non-oleophilic skimmers include weir (manual or self-adjusting).An oil skimmer is a machine that removes floating oil and grease from liquid. The floating oil adheres to skimming media, such as a belt, tube, rope, mop, or disk. The media then runs back to the machine to be wiped clean. Weir style skimmers use a pump to collect floating oils.Belt oil skimmer efficiently removes oil from the surface of oily effluent. It works on the principle of the difference in surface tension of oil and water. A rotating endless oleophilic belt passes through the oily effluent, which breaks the surface tension of the water to attract and collect the floating oil.
