After the cashews are sterilised and peeled off, they have to be graded. This is done according to the size and colour of the cashews. To sort the size a machine like on the picture below is being used. Out of the different spouts below, different sizes of Cashew Nuts are dispensed.Sorting machines can be used in the food processing industry for sorting and categorizing fruits, vegetables, empty bottles, crates, and other items; other examples include sorting of tablets and capsules by weight for quality control in the pharmaceutical industry. As well as sorting waste in the recycling industry.Cashew Kernels are first passed through Infra-red heating. Then, foreign particles are removed using an X-ray machine. Finally, finishing touches are given to grades by passing them through a cleaning line where they are manually supervised. Cashew kernels are then packed in a controlled atmosphere.
