The Crompton Greaves (CG) EHV Surge counter model SC 23-1 is a self-contained, maintenance-free monitoring device used to record the number of surge events discharged through a high-voltage surge arrester in EHV substations. It is designed for outdoor use and does not require an auxiliary power supply for operation. Key Features and Specifications: Function: Records cumulative surge discharge operations, aiding in condition monitoring and maintenance of the associated surge arrester. Application: Primarily used with EHV surge arresters in systems like 132 kV and 220 kV. Operation: The discharge current from the arrester passes through a shunt arrangement to charge a capacitor, whose subsequent discharge through a solenoid operates the mechanical counter mechanism. Display: Features a reliable, high-durability mechanical cyclometer counter with a 6-digit display, visible through a glass inspection window from ground level. Auxiliary Power: Requires no auxiliary power supply. Operating Conditions: Rated Current: Typically 30mA (for the counter mechanism during operation). Frequency: 50/60 Hz. Working Temperature: Designed for a range of -20°C to 65°C. Construction: Housing: Weatherproof, housed in an aluminum casting and powder-coated for corrosion resistance.
