Electric chain hoists use a load chain as the lifting medium. The load chain is pulled by a motor that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy used to lift the load. The electric hoist motor is housed inside a heat-dissipating shell, which is typically made from aluminum.A chain hoist is a mechanical device used for lifting heavy loads of objects and equipment. It is made with a pulley, which is held together by a closed chain. The closed chain forms a loop, which makes it easy to be pulled by hand. There are several large and small pulleys located throughout a chain hoist.How Does An Electric Chain Hoist Work? Electric chain hoists have an induction motor and a brake to ensure the load is held when lifting (enabling heavy objects/loads to be lifted safely). The motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy which can then lift the load/weight.Manual chain and lever hoists are commonly used for heavy duty lifting and materials handling operations. Chain hoists raise and lower loads by pulling on the hand chain or lever. Manual chain and lever hoists can be of single or double fall configurations depending on the capacity of the unit.
