DC motors start slowly, provide a more consistent response to speed, incline and weight demands, and tend to run quieter than alternating-current (AC) motors.Electric current flows in two ways as an alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC). The main difference between AC and DC lies in the direction in which the electrons flow. In DC, the electrons flow steadily in a single direction, while electrons keep switching directions, going forward and then backwards in AC.These treadmills are also motorized and usually go up to 12 – 15 mph. Some gyms may cap the speed of their treadmills to preserve their life though. The highest quality commercial treadmills that are used to train more serious runners, like Olympic runners, can go as fast as 25 mph.
