Membrane air dryers are compact, lightweight, require no power and have no moving parts, so they cost little to operate and do not require routine maintenance. Heat less air dryers are pressure swing adsorbs designed to retain the heat of adsorption within the desiccant beds during the drying process. The stored heat of adsorption is consumed during the regeneration process to remove moisture from the desiccant to provide continuous service.Desiccant air dryers are more expensive than refrigerated air dryers, both in their initial capital investment and in operating and maintenance costs. However, they are capable of lowering the dew point of compressed air to -40°F or even -100°F.A heat of compression dryer is a type of regenerative desiccant dryer. These machines dry air through adsorption, a chemical process in which a highly porous material attracts and holds on to surrounding water molecules, effectively removing moisture from the air.
